In Tanzania, agriculture is the backbone of the economy, employing over 75% of the population and contributing to approximately 30% of the country’s GDP. However, the sector faces various challenges, including low productivity, limited access to markets, climate change, and food waste and spoilage. These challenges often affect smallholder farmers, who make up the majority of the agricultural sector.

To address these challenges, Shamba Box, a registered and licensed agricultural consultancy in Tanzania, is prioritizing youth and women in its programs and services. Shamba Box recognizes the crucial role that youth and women play in the agricultural sector and aims to support and empower them to drive the transformation of the food system.
